MeadowTurf ™

MeadowTurf native meadow roll with intact root system

Meadow Turf™ products provide a 100% vegetative cover from day one. It looks like turf, but is more comparable to a potted plant material in it’s resilience, installation and maintenance requirements. We grow a variety of grasses and wildflowers that easily establish into a fully grown meadow in one season! Go Native Plants Grow!

PRODUCT DETAILS

  • Meadow Turf™ is a field grown nursery product successfully developed by Ecologic Horticulture. Verdå grows in Oregon & Colorado.

  • Our production method allows us to harvest the entire plant with its root system intact for installation.

  • The result is a fast- establishing community of native plants and grasses.

ORDERING & PROCUREMENT

  • Meadow Turf™ is delivered in a big Roll Format with two 2’ x 50’ rolls per tube (200 sq ft). Installation is similar to conventional sod and can be placed with Big Roll layering equipment or can be cut into smaller pieces.

  • Installation is slower than sod due to thickness, but is faster compared to conventional potted plants.

  • To establish, water deeply every 2 days for 2-3 weeks after installation.

  • Fall installation reduces the need to water as frequently due to natural moisture on most sites

INSTALLATION

  • Meadow Turf™ requires approximately 12-14 weeks to produce during the growing season and should be planted with the same growing season (no later than 1 year after production).

  • Grassland, Mixed Grassland and Riparian Blends are available across the season.

  • Custom blends must be ordered 12-14 weeks in advance of shipment date.

MAINTENANCE

  • Once established, Meadow Turf™ requires minimal maintenance and significantly less weeding than a seeded area.

  • We recommend an annual mowing in early spring, mowing at a 4-6’’ height on a mulch setting.

  • Meadow Turf™ contains native plants that don’t thrive when regularly mowed

  • Fertilize at installation and annually (if desired) with a balanced N-P-K controlled release product.

“Cool product. It’s easy to install and I didn’t have to wait and hope for my project to grow. This was a challenging site with difficult soils and an impossible timeline. But it was really important for the team to create true habitat support in this space. It worked really well".”
